Join us for a visual journey through time as Tonya shares side-by-side photos of iconic landmarks then and now. Followed by a Q&A session, refreshments and book signing at the Friends Bookstore on Civic Center Plaza.
In 1905, newlyweds Frank and Nora Traughber embarked on an epic 4,500-mile honeymoon across the American West that took them from Monterey's luxurious Hotel Del Monte to Catalina Island's "Tent City," then along Union Pacific's "Road of a Thousand Wonders" to the pre-quake vistas of San Francisco, the curative waters of Shasta Springs, Portland's "Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition," and the rugged wilderness and majestic geysers of Yellowstone. Armed with their original scrapbook and vivid 120-year-old captions, author Tonya Graham McQuade set out to retrace their footsteps in her new book Frank and Nora's Historic Honeymoon Adventure: A Travelogue through the West with a "Time Travel" Twist.
Tonya Graham McQuade is an author, educator, and speaker. She has a love for both history and historical fiction and a passion for travel and writing, both of which she is now pursuing more fully since retiring last June, after 33 years, from teaching English at Los Gatos High School. Tonya is an active member of South Bay Writers/California Writers Club, National League of American Pen Women, and Poetry Center San Jose.
